The unit is a carrier heat pump and recently started to make a unusual loud whining noise when the air conditioner is on. The unit still cools the house normally (from what I can tell), but the noise is very noticeable. A closer inspection of the unit sounds like something loose in the fan area. At least that’s my best guest. Any ideas? Also, the unit is no longer under warranty so I would like to know who to call to service that won’t cost a arm and leg just to check it?
